Twyford Comets U13s Welcome Dutch Team for Annual Exchange – Proudly Sponsored by Glen Group Ltd

Twyford Comets Football Club recently welcomed their friends from Dutch club R.K.U.V.C. as part of the long-standing annual Dutch Tour, a cherished tradition that has connected the two clubs for over four decades. This year’s event was proudly sponsored by Glen Group Ltd, whose generous support helped make the visit a memorable success for everyone involved.

Since 1981, the international exchange has given boys in the Under-13/14 age group the opportunity to travel between the UK and the Netherlands, stay with host families, experience different cultures, and, of course, play the sport they love. What began as a friendly football exchange has grown into a meaningful partnership that celebrates friendship, teamwork, and community spirit on and off the pitch.

This year’s tour was packed with excitement and new experiences. The visiting Dutch players enjoyed a full week of activities, including trips to Chelsea Stadium, Chessington Zoo, and various local attractions — all organised by the Twyford Comets community. The highlight of the week was, naturally, the international match, where both teams showcased fantastic sportsmanship and skill.

The Twyford Comets came away with a well-earned victory, though the Dutch side made it clear they’re ready for a rematch when the Comets travel to the Netherlands next year!

Adding to the celebrations, Glen Group’s very own Ross Barnes proudly presented medals and Glen gift bags to the players after the match, recognising their hard work, enthusiasm, and the spirit of international friendship that defines this unique event.

The week was a wonderful success — filled with football, fun, and unforgettable memories. Glen Group Ltd is honoured to continue supporting this special tradition that brings young people together, encourages cultural exchange, and strengthens community ties through sport.
