October 2024 Local Heroes

Local Hero is a celebration and recognition of those who go above and beyond.

Each of the nominated local heroes receive a £50 token of our appreciation as a thank-you for everything they do.

Lynn Martin

Alan North has sent the following thank you:

Lynn Martin works for Entrust at the Entrust Offices Riverway as a cleaner. I would really, really, really like to nominate her as an Employee of the Month.

During the ISO audit she was excellent when questioned by me and the auditor.

The site was gleaming with the cleaning cupboards an example to all others, she was dressed in Glen uniform and looked smart she commented the following:

Really happy with:

Glen, the uniform and information received. Loved the two main chemicals they now use from Bio Hygiene (so do the client).

The blue book and the information it contains.

The way they get the information such as COSHH through QR Codes.

Refresher Training and areas covered.

The auditor comments were that in 3 years these were the best set of cleaning cupboards he had seen (Glowing)

When asked how Glen could improve, she replied "I am very happy with everything”

Tracey Travers

Sam Edwards said:

“Tracey has gone above and beyond in her support with the new Alpha school Excel Academy.

When we took over the site, the supervisor left, and Tracey has been invaluable with her knowledge of the site and supporting me with cover, areas, new starters and staffing.

Her work has been greatly appreciated. Thank you“

Rachel George

Dan from Cyncoed University sent the following feedback:

“We had an emergency at Cyncoed Campus early hours this morning where a Mains Water supply line had burst on a compression joint and flooded the majority of the Ground floor of B Block.

With the Open Day starting at 9am today the need for emergency response was met fantastically well by Rachel George in removing huge amounts of water from the areas affected and cleaning up in time before the hundreds of Vistors arrived.

Rachel has always been the absolute heartbeat of the Cyncoed Campus and a huge credit to the University and Glen Cleaning, however over the last 12hrs or so she has absolutely saved the day.

I have spoken with Rachel today to express my personal gratitude and on behalf of the University, and also wanted to make you aware.”

Many thanks

Dan"

Dori Buckland & Muhammad Sajid

Sandra Raymond received the following feedback for Dori and Muhammad, from the client at QuickSTAT K&N Colnbrook:

“I would like to take a moment to recognize Dorrie and Sajid for their outstanding effort in organizing one of the external storage boxes. Their initiative has provided us with an additional option for storing consumables, which will greatly improve our efficiency.

After obtaining the access code from Cindy (as the team was initially unaware of the storage box), they took the lead in cleaning and tidying it to a high standard.

A big thank you to Dorrie and Sajid for their excellent work—it's truly appreciated!”

Katrina Graham

Paul Fowler received the following feedback:

“Following a recent site visit with Helen Newman at PCT, I was approached by Mrs. Berry from the Nursery area of Sacred Heart Catholic School. She commended the continued outstanding standards maintained by our Cleaning Operative, Katrina, on a daily basis.

Mrs. Berry also recognised the exceptional deep cleaning performed over the summer period, which has made a significant impact.

It's always rewarding to receive such positive feedback from teachers about the high standards our operatives deliver. Thank you, Katrina, for your hard work and dedication. We are really proud of you! Keep up the fantastic work!”

Joao Fernandes

Diane Walker wished to extend the thank you that Joao had already received from a lady that had fallen from Clarence house. Joao saw this so helped her up and  carried her bags for her. She appreciated this so much she bought him a card and chocolates to say thank you.

“Joao Thank you from all of us at Glen you really are our Local Hero”

Michele Thomas

Michael James wished to nominate Michele following his visit to the client in Dorset:

“When I visited the client in Dorset last month they mentioned what a great job & impact Michele had on the contract management for the contract & how pleased they were with her.”

Simon Hitchings

Paul Fowler said:

"Simon (Watermoor School Cirencester.) consistently goes above and beyond in their role. In addition to excelling in their primary responsibilities, they have been providing invaluable support in other areas of the contract, demonstrating a strong commitment to the team's success."

Holly Slade

Kim Stevens said:

“I would like to nominate Holly Slade for the Monthly Hero Award in recognition of her dedication and commitment throughout the ISO audit week.

Holly's work ethic was instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the office support team during a particularly challenging period.

Despite team members being on holiday, Holly not only managed the usual operational support but also extended her efforts to cover Employee Support.Holly's success in running the office support team single-handedly is a testament to her capabilities and dedication.“

Caroline James,  Lysette Visor & Karen Dodsworth

Paul Fowler wrote:

“I am honoured to nominate Caroline, Lysette and Karen for their outstanding dedication and hard work on the Gloucester Council contract. Over the past 12 months, they have navigated through a rollercoaster of challenges, yet they have consistently maintained their composure and thrived amidst these changes. I am truly pleased to have them under my wing, and in just the last four weeks, they have fully embraced the numerous changes I have introduced. Their commitment to always putting the school’s first and personally undertaking cover cleans exemplifies their dedication. They are a true credit to both the Glen Group and Gloucestershire County Council.”
