National Heart Month 2026

February marks National Heart Month 2026, and as part of our health and wellbeing strategy, we have used this opportunity to raise awareness of heart disease, cardiovascular health, and the importance of prevention within our News @ Glen employee communications.

Heart and circulatory conditions remain one of the leading causes of illness in the UK. However, many cases can be prevented or effectively managed through early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular health checks.

Why Heart Health Matters

The heart plays a vital role in overall health, pumping blood and oxygen throughout the body. Conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, coronary heart disease, and stroke can develop gradually and often show few symptoms in their early stages.

Encouraging regular health checks and early identification of potential issues can significantly reduce the risk of serious heart-related complications and support long-term wellbeing.

Supporting Positive Habits

During National Heart Month, we encouraged our teams to review daily habits and consider small, positive changes, including:

  • Staying active — aiming for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week

  • Eating a balanced diet — focusing on fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, lean proteins, and healthy fats

  • Reducing salt, sugar, and saturated fats

  • Stopping smoking

  • Managing stress and prioritising sleep

  • Monitoring blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight

Promoting preventative health supports not only individual wellbeing but also contributes to a healthier, more engaged workforce — reinforcing our commitment to making Glen a responsible and supportive employer.
