Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to reinforce something that matters year-round: when people feel supported, services are safer, more consistent, and more resilient.
Across the contracts we deliver, our teams work early starts, lone shifts, and fast-moving environments. Pressures outside of work can follow people onto site too. Promoting wellbeing helps reduce absence, support retention, and maintain the quality standards you expect.
At Glen, we’re building a culture where it’s normal to speak up early, ask for help, and look out for one another — without stigma. Working together, we can create environments where people feel safe to raise concerns and support is easy to access.
What This Means On Site
Mental health exists on a spectrum, and everyone’s experience is different. On site, support often starts with small actions: respectful communication, clear expectations, and noticing when someone may need a quiet check-in or help.
Our managers are encouraged to have regular, supportive conversations with colleagues and to escalate concerns appropriately where additional support is needed.
How Your Team Can Help Create a Positive Environment
Partnership makes a difference. Simple, day-to-day behaviours — such as inclusive communication, recognising good work, and raising concerns promptly — help our on-site teams feel supported and help us maintain consistent service delivery.
Our Approach: Practical Support and Clear Escalation
For our teams, support is most effective when it is practical and timely. We focus on regular check-ins, appropriate adjustments where possible, and clear routes to escalate concerns — while maintaining confidentiality and dignity.
Where additional help is needed, our managers can draw on internal support through Employee Support and external services, including our Employee Assistance Programme. We will work with you to manage any operational impacts on site.
Raising a Concern or Requesting Support
If you have a concern about wellbeing on site — whether it relates to a Glen colleague — please raise it as early as possible. Early conversations allow us to act quickly and put the right support in place.
